How does VNA measure s-parameters

• S-parameters are typically measured using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA).

The VNA measures Sparameters over frequency by sweeping the frequency of the input, it has the ability to separate transmitted and reflected power using directional couplers for power measurement. And by measuring a range of frequencies they provide a graph of the impedance and gain over a frequency range.
